Despite the fact that Brigham was eating large amounts of watermelon, grapes and cantaloupe last summer, he now despises anything fruity. He also refuses many vegetables. Some months ago, I gave him the tiniest piece of canned pear with a bite of the main dish we were eating. He noticed immediately and spit the whole bite out.
The other night, I gave Brigham a bite of casserole: noodle, corned beef and corn. He expertly removed the corn from the mix and spit it, plop to the floor!
This morning, I tried feeding him Quaker Oatmeal Apple flavor. As soon as he saw the little square apple shapes in there, he bucked his head back and refused to open his mouth. In this case, a little persistence on my part did the trick. He ate his oatmeal and by the end was even agreeing with May that the "num nums" were good.
He's started hearing the question marks at the end of sentences. He will answer, "no," "yah," or "yes!" depending on how he's feeling. We all think this is so cute!
