This one I don't tell too many people, but here goes.
In the summer of 2006, I quit my lucrative engineering career to move to Utah and fulfill a long-time personal goal of mine- getting my Real Estate license. After s solid month of classes, I took the exam on July 5th, and passed with flying colors. I had done it!
However, being licensed doesn't guarantee business, and things were slow. VERY slow. I was making barely enough to scrape by. Things were getting very, very desperate for me. And yet, I knew that at that time, I couldn't leave Utah and hit the road again. I just couldn't. It would have pushed me over the edge.
So what did I do? I hit my knees and prayed, for an opportunity to come along that would make me better money, and still keep me close to home.
Literally, immediately after getting off my knees, I checked my email, and found a note from an old employer I had worked for 3 years before, and had done a horrible job for. I had never expected to hear from this guy again. But here was his email.
He asked me if I wanted to take on a project for him in California. Not what I was looking for at all, but the timing of the email seemed right, so I wrote him back and said that while I was interested, I really didn't want to leave Utah.
He wrote back 5 minutes later and said, "Utah? I thought you were still in Las Vegas! We have a project starting up in Salt Lake City tomorrow, going for 4 months, and then have some more work in St George after that, if you're interested..."
I took the project, and stayed in Utah through the summer and into the next summer. I was able to get some Real Estate working while I did these projects. Things worked out, almost perfectly. All because I prayed.
Hey Cindi, I guess we all need a pick me up, so I guess I'll leave one that involves your family. Recently, with Mason's pneumonia, I felt snowed upon and left to freeze. It was hard to walk the same path we hoped never to go again. Mason was getting kind of better, I just thought he would always be on his medication in high amounts. I thought that our trip to California was his cure. You know the ocean air or the desert air. He literally came home a different boy. Instead of wheezing all day long and being somewhat melancholy, he was bouncy and full of life. For the last week I was giving all the credit to California. Then today in sacrament meeting I realized who really was behind Mason healing so completely and quick. It was Heavenly Father. And he didn't do it because I asked or because He wanted to, He did it because our friends and loved ones asked Him to heal Mason. Prayer is much more powerful that I can even comprehend. I am so grateful for it. Mason is here on earth because of it and because the people who know him have the faith to keep someone alive! Thank you Martineau family for having faith and sending some of it towards us! Love, Kristen
I was busy baking all day long. Brigham played by himself most of the day. At one point, he requested that I come and spread out his car mat for him to play on. I told him that I thought he could do it for himself. He told me, "I'm mad at you! I'm not having you in this house!!!!"

Me: I'm not talented at making roses (out of frosting).
Elijah: Yeah you are. It's probably just way back in your brain.

Brigham is really into signs right now. He tries to read all the signs we pass on the road. He draws signs. He asks to have words spelled to draw his signs. He asks other people to draw signs. He cuts out his signs with the little pink kid scissors. He asks for tape. THERE ARE SIGNS ALL OVER MY WALLS!!!! The other day he and Joseph sat down and made signs to print out on the computer. My favorite one has a straight arrow pointing up, a circle around it and red line through it. It is called, "No Straight Turns," made because of Brigham's insistence.
